RESUMEN

The aim was to establish a specific and definite connection between non-syndromic orofacial cleft patients and associated congenital heart disease (CHD). Following PRISMA guidelines, selective databases were searched for data collection. Studies showing a definite association of CHD with orofacial cleft were included, and studies non-specific of the association of orofacial cleft with CHD were excluded. Data extraction criteria were study design, frequency of CHD in overall non-syndromic orofacial cleft and in specific cleft type, and most prevalent congenital cardiac anomaly. DerSimonian Laird random effects model was used to estimate the pooled proportion of CHD, along with corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for each measure. Publication bias was assessed using Fail-Safe N analysis and the Rosenthel approach. Of a total of 182 articles searched, only 30 studies were assessed. The overall pooled estimate of the proportion of CHD in total cleft lips/palates was 16% (95% CI: 13-19). The odds of developing CHD in cleft palates was 4.08 times more as compared to cleft lips with 95% CIs of 3.86-4.33, and 1.65 more as compared to cleft lips and palates both with 95% CI of 1.52-1.68. We affirm the upsurging prevalence of CHD in non-syndromic cleft children and vehemently propose that it is of utmost importance to inculcate it in practice and policy-making to screen all non-syndromic orofacial cleft children for congenital cardiac anomaly. The BIRADS lexicon ensures a standard reporting terminology in breast imaging and serves as a means of smooth communication between the radiologist and the referring physician. BIRADS assessment categories 4 and 5 warrant a biopsy to rule out underlying malignancy. However, a substantial number of cases in these categories sometimes turn out to be benign on biopsy. These benign mimics encompass inflammatory, sclerosing, neoplastic and a few other miscellaneous conditions. Awareness of these various mimics of breast cancer can equip the radiologist to handle these apparent cases of radiologic-pathological (rad-path) discordance better, guide overall patient management, avoiding inadvertent excisional biopsies and help alleviate patient anxiety and confusion.

Pyomyoma, a rare complication of a myoma undergoing infarction and subsequent infection, may be a diagnostic challenge in patients with unexplained puerperal fever. A woman in her 30s presented with fever and foul-smelling discharge per vaginum, 6 months after her first caesarean section (CS). She underwent an elective CS for symptomatic placenta praevia at 34 weeks of gestation. Intra-operatively, post-partum haemorrhage was managed with uterotonics and blood transfusions. However, 2 weeks later, she developed a high-grade fever that was non-responsive to parenteral antibiotics. She continued to have intermittent episodes of high-grade fever, which were treated on an outpatient basis. Six months later, she developed purulent vaginal discharge, which grew Escherichia coli on bacterial culture. She received intravenous antibiotics and blood. Radiology confirmed the presence of a large fibroid with a focal capsular breach and peripherally enhanced collection extending to the endometrial cavity. The patient subsequently underwent a myomectomy. Intra-operatively, a large fundal myoma with endometrial breach and purulent discharge in the fibroid and endometrial cavity was noted. She sustained the procedure well and recovered uneventfully.

Objective Doppler velocimetry provides a sensitive, non-invasive, and safe method of surveillance of fetal hemodynamics and fetomaternal circulation. Cerebroplacental ratio (CPR) is an indicator of placental function and fetal maladaptation to placental insufficiency. Cerebroplacental ratio (CPR) is becoming a significant indicator of unfavorable pregnancy outcomes, which has implications for the assessment of fetal well-being. This study aimed to determine the cut-off value of the cerebroplacental ratio (CPR) in appropriate for gestational age (AGA) fetuses in high-risk mothers to predict adverse perinatal outcomes. We also compared the efficacy of CPR, umbilical artery pulsatility index (UmA PI), and middle cerebral artery pulsatility index (MCA PI) for predicting adverse perinatal outcomes. Design and setting This was a prospective observational study conducted at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, India. Methods A total of 100 women with singleton high-risk pregnancies were included in this prospective observational study. Obstetric ultrasound was performed at the time of recruitment, and fetal weight and CPR were noted. Based on fetal weight, patients were divided into AGA and fetal growth restriction (FGR) groups; CPR was measured; patients were followed up fortnightly; and outcomes were noted. Main outcome The effectiveness of CPR, UmA PI, and MCA PI for predicting poor perinatal outcomes and identifying the cut-off value of CPR in appropriate for gestational age (AGA) fetuses in high-risk mothers was assessed. Result The values of MCA PI, UmA PI, and CPR were statistically significant between AGA and FGR (p-value =.023, .002 and .0001), respectively. The cut-off value for CPR-detecting adverse outcomes in AGA was 1.49. It has sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of 67.5%, 68%, 71.69%, and 70.21%, respectively. Conclusion Cerebroplacental ratio (CPR) reflects both circulatory insufficiency of the placenta and adaptive changes of the middle cerebral artery, indicating an important non-invasive surveillance modality.

Dengue is widespread in tropical and subtropical regions globally and leads to a considerable burden of disease. Annually, dengue virus (DENV) causes up to 400 million infections, of which ~25% present with clinical symptoms ranging from mild to fatal. Despite its significance as a growing public health concern, the development of effective DENV vaccines has been highly challenging. One of the reasons is the lack of comprehensive understanding of the influence exerted by prior DENV infections and immune responses with cross-reactive properties. To investigate this, we collected samples from a pediatric cohort study in dengue-endemic Managua, Nicaragua. We characterized T cell responses in a group of 71 healthy children who had previously experienced one or more natural DENV infections and who, within one year after sample collection, had a subsequent DENV infection that was either symptomatic (n=25) or inapparent (n=46, absence of clinical disease). Thus, our study was designed to investigate the impact of pre-existing DENV specific T cell responses on the clinical outcomes of subsequent DENV infection. We assessed the DENV specific T cell responses using an activation-induced marker assay (AIM). Children who had experienced only one prior DENV infection displayed heterogeneous DENV specific CD4+ and CD8+ T cell frequencies. In contrast, children who had experienced two or more DENV infections showed significantly higher frequencies of DENV specific CD4+ and CD8+ T cells that were associated with inapparent as opposed to symptomatic outcomes in the subsequent DENV infection. Taken together, these findings demonstrate the protective role of DENV specific T cells against symptomatic DENV infection and constitute an advancement toward identifying protective immune correlates against dengue fever and clinical disease.

Immunodominant and highly conserved flavivirus envelope proteins can trigger cross-reactive IgG antibodies against related flaviviruses, which shapes subsequent protection or disease severity. This study examined how prior dengue serotype 3 (DENV-3) infection affects subsequent Zika virus (ZIKV) plasmablast responses in rhesus macaques (n = 4). We found that prior DENV-3 infection was not associated with diminished ZIKV-neutralizing antibodies or magnitude of plasmablast activation. Rather, characterization of 363 plasmablasts and their derivative 177 monoclonal antibody supernatants from acute ZIKV infection revealed that prior DENV-3 infection was associated with a differential isotype distribution toward IgG, lower somatic hypermutation, and lesser B cell receptor variable gene diversity as compared with repeat ZIKV challenge. We did not find long-lasting DENV-3 cross-reactive IgG after a ZIKV infection but did find persistent ZIKV-binding cross-reactive IgG after a DENV-3 infection, suggesting non-reciprocal cross-reactive immunity. Infection with ZIKV after DENV-3 boosted pre-existing DENV-3-neutralizing antibodies by two- to threefold, demonstrating immune imprinting. These findings suggest that the order of DENV and ZIKV infections has impact on the quality of early B cell immunity which has implications for optimal immunization strategies. IMPORTANCE: The Zika virus epidemic of 2015-2016 in the Americas revealed that this mosquito-transmitted virus could be congenitally transmitted during pregnancy and cause birth defects in newborns. Currently, there are no interventions to mitigate this disease and Zika virus is likely to re-emerge. Understanding how protective antibody responses are generated against Zika virus can help in the development of a safe and effective vaccine. One main challenge is that Zika virus co-circulates with related viruses like dengue, such that prior exposure to one can generate cross-reactive antibodies against the other which may enhance infection and disease from the second virus. In this study, we sought to understand how prior dengue virus infection impacts subsequent immunity to Zika virus by single-cell sequencing of antibody producing cells in a second Zika virus infection. Identifying specific qualities of Zika virus immunity that are modulated by prior dengue virus immunity will enable optimal immunization strategies.

ABSTRACT: The aim of our study was to compare the placental elasticity values between normal pregnancies and preeclamptic pregnancies and evaluate the utility of shear-wave elastography of the placenta as a predictor for preeclampsia in high-risk pregnancy. A prospective study was performed with 90 singleton high-risk pregnancies having any of the 7 risk factors for developing preeclampsia (primigravida, history of preeclampsia, family history of preeclampsia, history of pregestational diabetes, chronic hypertension, advanced maternal age [≥40 years], and body mass index ≥26 kg/m2) were enrolled in the study. Shear-wave elastography was performed in all patients at 20 to 24 weeks' gestation and at 34 to 36 weeks' gestation, at 2 sites: center and edge of the placenta. The patients were divided into 2 groups: normal pregnancies (group A) or developed preeclampsia (group B). Women with posterior placentation, obstetric disorders other than preeclampsia, or multiple gestation were excluded from the study. Group comparisons were done using the χ2 test or Fisher exact test. Shear-wave elasticity values at 20 to 24 weeks' gestation for group B at the center of the placenta (21.73 vs 9.72 kPa) and at the edge of the placenta (21.6 kPa vs 10.15 kPa) were significantly higher than those for group A (P < 0.05). Similar results were seen at 34 to 36 weeks' gestation. With a cutoff of 13.1 kPa, we attained sensitivity of 95.2%, specificity of 92.8% and diagnostic accuracy of 93.3% for predicting development of preeclampsia. Patients with preeclampsia have a significantly higher stiffness of the placenta. Shear-wave elastography is useful to evaluate placental function. Elastography can be used as a supplementary tool for prediction of preeclampsia.

Dengue viruses (DENV1-4) are the most prevalent arboviruses in humans and a major public health concern. Understanding immune mechanisms that modulate DENV infection outcome is critical for vaccine development. Neutralizing antibodies (nAbs) are an essential component of the protective immune response, yet their measurement often relies on a single cellular substrate and partially mature virions, which does not capture the full breadth of neutralizing activity and may lead to biased estimations of nAb potency. Here, we analyze 125 samples collected after one or more DENV infections but prior to subsequent symptomatic or inapparent DENV1, DENV2, or DENV3 infections from a long-standing pediatric cohort study in Nicaragua. By assessing nAb responses using Vero cells with or without DC-SIGN and with mature or partially mature virions, we find that nAb potency and the protective NT50 cutoff are greatly influenced by cell substrate and virion maturation state. Additionally, the correlation between nAb titer and protection from disease depends on prior infection history and infecting serotype. Finally, we uncover variations in nAb composition that contribute to protection from symptomatic infection differently after primary and secondary prior infection. These findings have important implications for identifying antibody correlates of protection for vaccines and natural infections.

Anorectal malignant melanomas are rare, accounting for less than 2% of all melanomas. Malignant effusions developing secondary to malignant melanoma are highly uncommon. Herein, we present the cytomorphological features of a metastatic anorectal malignant melanoma presenting with ascites at the initial clinical presentation.

Background: Any treatment protocol that leads to complete elimination of surgery may lead to a better patient acceptance of breast cancer treatments. Objectives: We conducted this study to assess the feasibility of preoperative vacuum-assisted biopsies in identifying pathological complete response (pCR) and its accuracy in correlation to final histopathology report (HPR), in an Indian setting. Methods: This was a prospective study conducted between October 1, 2019, and March 31, 2021. Patients with early breast cancer, estrogen and progesterone receptors negative and either Her2 positive or negative, and who were fit to undergo marker placement at the centre of the tumour and to receive third-generation chemotherapy (4 cycles of 3 weekly doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide followed by 4 cycles of 3 weekly docetaxel) were included in the study. Following the enrolment, a tissue marker was placed at the centre of the tumour and appropriate chemotherapy was started. Patients who achieved clinical complete response were subjected to ultrasound-guided vacuum-assisted biopsy (VAB) from the tumour bed before surgery. Pathology results of the VAB and resected specimen were then compared. Descriptive statistics were used in the study. Results: Eighteen patients were enrolled in the study, with a mean age of 43.6 ± 9.8 years. However, only 10 were eligible for VAB procedure, and sensitivity and specificity were calculated based on the results of these 10 patients only. Vacuum-assisted biopsy showed sensitivity of 50% and specificity of 100% in identifying pCR. Combination of mammography, ultrasonography, and VAB showed sensitivity of 77.8% and specificity of 66.7% in identifying pCR. Conclusion: Vacuum-assisted biopsy of tumour bed may not be sensitive enough to eliminate surgery even in patients who have had exceptional response to neo-adjuvant chemotherapy.

Aim: The current study evaluates and compares the percentage distribution of different microorganisms according to their strains and occurrence among the three studied groups. Method and Methodology: Sample of 30 removable dental prosthesis wearing patients was selected: wearing either complete dentures or partial dentures and without any significant medical history or on prescription medication for the past 3-6 months. Samples were obtained in three subcategories based on the duration of prostheses worn by the patient. A sterile swab made up of cotton moistened with phosphate buffer saline (PBS) was scrubbed on the dental prosthesis at the fitting surfaces and the denture-bearing area of the oral cavity. Within two hours, the collected swab sample was infused in the sterile tube containing 1 ml of 0.84% PBS solution maintained at pH 7-7.2 and sent for microbiological analysis. The samples were then inoculated into different medias. Microbial growth was checked after incubating the culture plates for 48 h at 37°C. Microorganisms were recognized and counted by calibrated colony counter. Gram's stain was used to stain the colony smear and biochemical tests such as coagulase, catalase, oxidase, sugar fermentation with acid and gas production (triple sugar iron), methyl red test, test for indole production, hydrogen sulphide (H2S) production, citrate utilization, urease test, germ tube tests were performed. Statistical Analysis: Descriptive statistics included calculation of means and standard deviation using multivariate analysis. All values were considered statistically significant for a value of P < 0.05. Results: Streptococcus species, Coagulase-negative staphylococcus, Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans and Klebsiella pneumoniae showed the maximum positive culture among the secluded microorganisms in all three groups. Conclusion: A progressive increase in the microbial contamination was directly proportional to the duration of removable prosthesis usage.

Nipple discharge is the third most common breast related complaint seen in the breast clinics. Although the majority of cases are due to a benign etiology, 5%-12% cases of pathological nipple discharge may be harboring an underlying malignancy. A thorough radiological workup in cases of pathological nipple discharge is thus of utmost importance, with the initial imaging modality depending on the age of the patient. The imaging modalities include mammogram (MG) and ultrasound (US) with addition of breast MRI if the nipple discharge is clinically suspicious and no MG or US correlate is identified. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) also holds promise in demonstrating the exact extent of a pathology detected on US and thus aids in the planning of further management.

By assessing nAb responses using Vero cells with or without the attachment factor DC-SIGN and with mature or partially mature virions, we found that nAb potency and the protective NT 50 cutoff were greatly influenced by cell substrate and virion maturation state. Additionally, the correlation between nAb titer and protection from disease depended on an individual's prior infection history and the subsequent infecting DENV serotype. Finally, we uncovered variations in nAbs composition that contributed to protection from symptomatic DENV infection differently after primary and secondary prior infection. These findings have important implications for identifying antibody correlates of protection in the context of vaccines and natural infections.

Background: Many patients arrive in the emergency department (ED) with acute pain. Battlefield acupuncture (BFA) uses small, semipermanent acupuncture needles in 5 set points anatomically located on each ear to reduce pain in a few minutes. Pain relief can last months, depending on the pathology of the pain. At the Jesse Brown Veterans Affairs Medical Center (JBVAMC) ED, ketorolac 15 mg is the preferred first-line treatment of acute, noncancer pain. In 2018, BFA was offered first to veterans presenting with acute or acute-on-chronic pain to the ED; however, its effectiveness in pain reduction vs ketorolac has not been evaluated in this patient population. The objective of this study was to determine whether BFA monotherapy was noninferior to ketorolac 15 mg for reducing pain scores in the ED. Methods: This study was a retrospective, electronic chart review of patients who presented to JBVAMC ED with acute pain or acute-on-chronic pain and received ketorolac or BFA. The primary endpoint was the mean difference in the numeric rating scale (NRS) pain score from baseline. Secondary endpoints included the number of patients receiving pain medications, including topical analgesics, at discharge and treatment-related adverse events in the ED. Results: A total of 61 patients were included in the study. Baseline characteristics were similar between the 2 groups except for the average baseline NRS pain score, which was higher in the BFA group (8.7 vs 7.7; P = .02). The mean difference in NRS pain scores from baseline to post-intervention was 3.9 for the BFA group and 5.1 for the ketorolac group. The difference in reducing the NRS pain score between the intervention groups was not statistically significant. No adverse events were observed in either treatment group. Conclusions: For treating acute and acute-on-chronic pain in the ED, BFA did not differ compared with ketorolac 15 mg in NRS pain score reduction. This study's results add to the limited existing literature suggesting that both interventions could result in clinically significant reductions in pain scores for patients presenting to the ED with severe and very severe pain, indicating BFA could be a viable nonpharmacologic treatment option.

Background: We assessed the efficacy and safety of dolutegravir/lamivudine (DTG/3TC) in a US test-and-treat setting at a secondary 48-week time point of the multicenter, single-arm, phase IIIb STAT study. Methods: Participants were eligible adults newly diagnosed with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-1 and had started once-daily DTG/3TC within 14 days of diagnosis, before laboratory results were available. Antiretroviral therapy (ART) was modified if baseline testing indicated DTG or 3TC resistance, hepatitis B virus (HBV) coinfection, or creatinine clearance <30 mL/min per 1.73 m2, and these participants remained in the study. A proportion with HIV-1 ribonucleic acid (RNA) <50 copies/mL at Week 48 was calculated among all participants (intention-to-treat-exposed [ITT-E] missing = failure analysis) and those with available data (observed analysis). Results: At Week 48, 82% of all participants regardless of ART (107 of 131; ITT-E missing = failure) and 97% with available data (107 of 110; observed analysis) achieved HIV-1 RNA <50 copies/mL. High proportions of virologic response were seen overall, including in participants with high viral load (≥500 000 copies/mL; 89%) or low CD4+ cell count (<200 cells/mm3; 78%) at baseline. Ten participants had treatment modification (baseline HBV coinfection, n = 5; participant/proxy decision, n = 2; baseline M184V resistance mutation, adverse event [AE; rash], and pregnancy, n = 1 each) before Week 48. Two participants met confirmed virologic failure criteria. No treatment-emergent resistance was observed. Ten participants reported drug-related AEs (all grade 1-2); no serious drug-related AEs occurred. Conclusions: Results demonstrated high proportions of participants with sustained virologic suppression, no treatment-emergent resistance, and good safety over 48 weeks, supporting first-line use of DTG/3TC in a test-and-treat setting.

AIM: To perform body fat patterning in Asian-Indian individuals with T2D. METHODS: A total of 53 patients with recent-onset diabetes and 106 non-diabetic controls were included from screened 261 individuals. Data was divided into 2 groups; overweight/obese [(BMI ≥23 kg/m2); 45 diabetic, 84 non-diabetic] and lean [(BMI <23 kg/m2); 8 diabetic, 22 non-diabetic]. Anthropometry (weight, height, BMI, waist, hip circumference, waist-hip ratio) and lipids, adiponectin and hsCRP were measured. Body composition (BC) was assessed by bioimpedance analysis (BIA) and Dual Energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA). We analyzed the association of visceral adipose tissue (VAT) with anthropometric measures to identify predictors of diabetes. RESULTS: Total body fat percentage was comparable between patients with T2D and non-diabetic controls in both, obese [35.0 ± 9.1% vs 36.8 ± 8.4%, p = 0.29 (BIA), 40.1 ± 6.7 vs 46.6 ± 4.1%, p = 0.052 (DEXA) and lean [25.1 ± 5.6% vs 26.0 ± 6.7%, p = 0.74 (BIA), 35.3 ± 4.8% vs 34.1 ± 6.3%, p = 0.72 (DEXA) study group. Individuals of T2D (obese or lean) had significantly higher visceral fat rating (BIA), VAT area, volume, mass and VAT corrected for total body fat percentage (DEXA). Obese T2D had lower muscle mass (57.0 ± 6.4% vs 60.0 ± 5.5%, p = 0.03) than obese controls. Intra-abdominal visceral fat (IAVF) [(VFR, VAT (mass/area/volume) and VAT mass corrected for body fat)] had the best sensitivity (71%) for incident diabetes. CONCLUSION: Higher Intra-abdominal visceral fat and not total body fat is associated with incident diabetes independent of BMI. IAVF estimation by either BIA or DEXA should be performed to predict diabetes especially in lean individuals.

Introduction: COVID-19 in kidney transplant recipients (KTR) had been associated with high incidence of acute kidney injury and higher mortality. Management of these patients is still evolving. Methods: A retrospective observational study was done that included all KTR aged ≥18 years and ≤65 years who had COVID-19 diagnosis via RTPCR test between 1 June 2020 and 30 May 2021. Severity of COVID-19 was determined as per the guidelines given by Government of India. Acute kidney injury was defined according to KDIGO guideline. Data was collected and analyzed using SPSS version 16.0 (Chicago, SPSS Inc.). Results: Out of 34 patients, 29 were men. Median age of patients was 39.9 years and median time since transplantation was 34 months. Presenting symptoms were fever (100%), cough (79.4%), gastrointestinal symptoms (23.5%), and dysgeusia/anosmia (23.5%). COVID-19 was severe in 17.6%, moderately severe in 32.4%, and mild in 50% of patients. Time since transplantation, duration of symptoms, hospital stay and inflammatory markers like CRP, LDH, ferritin and d-dimer were significantly associated with disease severity (P < 0.05). Steroids were increased in 55%, antiproliferative agents stopped in 97%, and calcineurin inhibitors stopped in 26% of patients. 70.6% of the patients were managed in home isolation. Acute kidney injury occurred in 58.8% cases. 75% of the AKI patients recovered by 28 days after discharge. Conclusion: Our study showed that outcome of COVID-19 in kidney transplant patients was reasonably good.

Background: Outcome of Isolated ventriculomegaly diagnosed antenatally depends on size of ventricles and associated malformations. There is scarcity of literature on the guidelines for prognostication based on outcomes as per the ventricle size. Aim: The aim of this work was to study outcome of antenatally detected isolated ventriculomegaly in terms of medical termination, postnatal neuro-developmental milestones, and mortality; and also to propose a new prognostication classification. Methods: Prospective and retrospective observational study on antenatal mothers with isolated ventriculomegaly diagnosed in fetus. Outcomes in terms of termination of pregnancy, postnatal mortality, need of surgery, and morbidity were recorded. Patients were categorized into four groups: Group 1--ventricle size <10 mm, II--11-15 mm, III--16-20 mm, and IV > 20 mm and neuro-developmental milestones were co-related. Association with chromosomal anomalies, congenital heart disease, and maternal infection were also analyzed. Results: 521 antenatal females were referred with fetal anomalies with 163 having CNS malformations. Isolated ventriculomegaly was seen in only 44. Patients of groups 1 and 2 had 100% normal neuro-developmental milestones without any intervention. Group 3 patients had normal neurodevelopmental milestones in 60% only while shunt surgery was required in 40% of patients. All patients of group 4 had poor outcome with only 50% survival. No association with chromosomal anomalies and heart disease was found. Conclusions: Prognosis of isolated ventriculomegaly depends upon size of ventricles and its progressive increase on serial ultrasounds. New proposed classification is simple and would be useful for the treating surgeons to explain the prognosis to parents so as to relieve them of anxiety.

Background: Human behavior including sexual activity is mostly culturally bound; particularly individuals at a younger age do build their sexual knowledge through various sources like by forming intimacy with similar age group individuals and use of media or literature available for the information. Values and beliefs about sexuality are manifested in a person's individual sexual behaviors based on family, religion and socio-cultural influence on knowledge about sexuality and sexual experiences. However, modernization may have inadvertently changed people's attitudes and permissiveness among sexually active youths in our society. Methodology: This study adapted a cross-sectional descriptive-cum-exploratory research design conducted in an in-group of a single educational institute. A structured, pre-tested, self-administered questionnaire was used to collect the relevant information from the subjects. This study aims to receive information about the knowledge, practices and attitudes regarding sexual behavior among 340 undergraduate medical students in a medical college at Patna, Bihar. Results: This study showed significant findings regarding changing attitudes of the new generation toward sex and sexual practices as 78.5% of respondents were found between the age group of 20-25 years among which 58.5% were males and 41.5% were females. The average age of sexual debut was found to be 21 years among which 97.3% of the participants were heterosexual. Gender and religion were significantly associated with few components of sexual attitudes. Conclusion: Sex is one of the most sensitive aspects of a human life which is not usually talked about in open space and requires a lot of privacy in thoughts and practices. There is a strong need to introduce age-appropriate sexual knowledge at school and college level to establish healthy sexual attitudes among the young generation. As medical health practitioners, it is necessary to disseminate appropriate guidance and non-biased services to the welfare of the beneficiaries shaping their sexual attitudes for responsible and safe sexual practices.
